Who Are These Children?

"These are your days! You are in this time and circumstance by Divine Appointment. God knows you and He knows what you have the capacity to achieve." [ -Elder Neal A. Maxwell 1985]

Our children were not placed on this earth at this time and in the familial relationships by a cosmic roll of the dice. Heavenly Father's house is a house of order. Our children were placed here because of the role they will play. They were faithful and strong before this life, "marked" for greatness here because of their former greatness. "God has saved for the final inning some of His strongest and most valiant children..... In all ages prophets have looked down through the corridors of time to our day. make no mistake about it- - this is a marked generation......" [-Pres. Benson 1987-88]

Are they preparing for their "great work"? Do they know what their work is? Are we doing all we can to help prepare them? The Book of Mormon contains a possible latter-day parallel. Imagine that our children like the ancient stripling warriors have been called to defend, prepare and save the kingdom. Premortally, our children were "exceedingly valiant for courage, and also for strength and activity; but this was not all- - they were men [and women] who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted...." Now, having forgotten all of that, our children have come to earth to be born of goodly parents, who try to teach them who they really are and what their divine potential and responsibilities are. May we make this our work and faithfully fulfill the trust place in us by our Heavenly Father.

What is their great work?

Stay tuned............
